NT Branch Secretary
Jacinta is the inaugural Secretary of the NT Branch of AALA.
Born and bred to Chinese-Timorese immigrant parents in sunny Top End (Darwin), Jacinta is a lawyer working for the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services.
Jacinta began her legal career in 2017 when she took up a work experience opportunity with the Northern Territory Crime Victims Services Unit. After completing 2 years of student placements with the Unit, working primarily in the debt recovery section, Jacinta graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Accounting.
The following year, she was admitted as a lawyer, and accepted into a 12-month graduate employment program with the Solicitor for the Northern Territory where she gained invaluable experience instructing Crown prosecutors in jury trials and advising government clients on a range of commercial and litigation matters.
After completion of the graduate program, Jacinta took on a short policy stint at NT WorkSafe, and not long after that, became the Prosecutions and Legal Services Coordinator. As the Coordinator, Jacinta was involved in a range of complex work health and safety prosecutions and prepared charges and submissions on behalf of the Work Health Authority.
Outside of work, Jacinta enjoys binging Korean dramas and trying new eateries and writing about her food experiences.
