Executive Committee Member
MARY LIU
Mary is a final year student studying a double degree in Laws (Honours) and Commerce at Monash University, with a passion for commercial law. She has various legal experience working across public and private sectors, including at the Australian Law Reform Commission, Hall & Wilcox, Nevett Ford Lawyers Melbourne and Baker McKenzie. Previously, she has also worked in property investment.
Mary first joined the Asian Australian Lawyers Association (AALA) as a student volunteer in 2019. In 2020, she supported the Student Liaison Subcommittee and the Social Media and IT Subcommittee as a Victorian Committee Member. In 2021, Mary served as the Victorian Chair of the Student Liaison Subcommittee, where she also facilitated AALA events as a guest speaker or host to encourage conversations about cultural diversity. In the same year, she was appointed as National Secretariat Officer, where she assisted the National Secretary in drafting policies and managing organisational tasks across National and Branch levels.
Being a passionate advocate of diversity and inclusion in the legal workspace, Mary believes that AALA provides a sound platform for Asian Australian lawyers and legal professionals to exchange dialogue about key issues surrounding cultural diversity for change, and to celebrate the diverse cultural heritage and assets that are amongst us.
