DARYL LIM
Daryl is a Special Counsel at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, where he practises in mergers and acquisitions and corporate projects and transactions, with a particular focus on cross-border M&A and advising Asian and Australian based clients on inbound and outbound investments. His main focus is to provide strategic and commercial legal advice. Daryl also regularly advises in respect of corporate governance issues and works with clients across a variety of industries. Prior to returning to Melbourne, Daryl practised in Singapore and Tokyo, including a secondment as Senior Legal Counsel at Toyota Tsusho Corporation in Japan. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws from Monash University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.
Daryl has been involved with AALA since 2026, initially as a volunteer supporting Victorian Branch events and initiatives. He is also a member of AALA's national Advocacy & Policy Committee, contributing to research, publications and policy submissions that support the Asian Australian community.
Daryl is passionate about advancing Asian Australian representation in leadership and removing systemic barriers that contribute to the "bamboo ceiling". He joined the AALA Victorian Branch Committee to foster a stronger sense of community among Asian Australian lawyers in Victoria. Daryl loves meeting people, building connections, and exploring Melbourne's multicultural food scene.
